cadaver

stripped

on the side walk
all the people
you walked away from

stripping their souls
down to the once white bones

bones
now soft
and hollow
and black

perhaps
from the smoke
you blew in their once bright faces

faces
now featureless
futureless
empty cavity
filled with sadness
extended into rickety
raggedy hands

hands
turned into a spiritless lump
by the way you took away
the lines from their palms
and the ground beneath
their feet

feet
now mere sticks
broken into 1524 pieces
pieces hanging
onto their hoarse
coarse bruised
vocal chords

vocal chords
clenched crumpled
arrested in your fists
clasped tightly
deep into your bottomless
heartless breast pockets
shoving iniquity into their eyes

eyes
which once saw the world
in all its beauty
and reflected back
the same with an added colour
have now turned pale
paler than the colour of
an abandoned cause
sucking the darkness in
in its vacant sockets
emitting nothing

nothing
is now what they are
as they spill their nothingness
on the side walks
dirtying your shoes and sandals
with their existence
invisible

invisible
though they are
to you and the many like you
still you reach out
to stifle out
stamp out
their measly barely there shadows

shadows
which have forfeited their own bodies
and questioningly ask themselves
who are you

they are who were
hurled into the blackest black hole
of this world
by the who's who

the who's who
renowned
by their business
of walking away
from all the people
stripping their soul
on the side walk

side walk

now an urbane cemetery
celebratory
of
empty souls
hollow bones
dug out faces
puppet hands
broken feet
voices severed
scooped out sights
untouchable invisibility
and nailed down shadows

stripped
