seraph

oh sweet baby seraphim
where have you been
i've only caught glimpses of you lately
like

flashes from a past life
i've been waiting

around the corner
standing on streets made of seething tar

oh sweet baby seraphim

where has the smile gone
why has it
along with you disappeared
like
acid wings of Icarus
melted evaporated into fumes
exhaled
done away with
like
a black cloud cursed to live
its life
nailed to the ground

oh sweet baby seraphim
we were meant to fly together
weren't we
joined at our bellies
our pores fused together
like
snowflake on snowflake
melting together
when did this aquatic phantasy
become a funis
wound around our necks
choking us at the time
of our one amongst many
births
and turning them into deaths

oh
sweet
baby
seraphim

did you go
did you disappear
did you vanish
when i traded in
my arms for
scalpels
and legs for
squishy concrete

and insisted
on holding
you close
and holding
you high

was it the cuts
that i gave
or the blood
that i drew
or the suffocation
that i made to ooze

oh sweet  baby seraphim
i'll break these arms
and bones
and suck out the corrupt marrow
if this is the reason
if this is true

broken
i'll be
cleansed

and we'll be fine

for the both of us
your seraphic wings
will do
